How impressed are Chevy buyers with their new Chevrolets? If the J.D. Power 2017 Initial Quality Study is an indication, it’s safe to say that they are extremely impressed. Three Chevrolet models come out on the top of their segments and four more land within the top three of their respective segments. The Chevy Silverado is a double winner, leading in both light-duty and heavy-duty segments. Chevy trucks excel in the midsize segment as well, where the Colorado placed second. If you’re looking for an SUV, Chevrolet has an award winner at both ends of the spectrum, as the Chevy Equinox places for compact SUVs and the Tahoe is #2 in large SUVs. But it isn’t just the big guys where Chevrolet excels – the Chevrolet Sonic also brought home the top Initial Quality award for small cars and the Chevy Cruze took second place among compacts. The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study is based on problems experienced by new car owners after 90 days of ownership with the segment leaders being the vehicles with the fewest reported issues.
